Edinburgh, a beautiful city, can't wait to return.

I've just returned from a fabulous weekend in Edinburgh, a bit of a birthday celebration. Having never been to Scotland before I was really looking forward to the weekend and I was not disappointed. It was a bit parky to say the least, but it didn't rain, always a bonus, although it did try, unsuccessfully to snow.

We took in the usual touristy sights including the castle and dungeons as well as visiting a few of the local hostelries. We also took the opportunity to visit Stills Gallery who were showing Chloe Dewe Mathews' Shot at Dawn, which is a tribute to the hundreds of the mostly young soldiers who were exectuted by firing squad for cowardice or desertion.
